Below I have some pictures of an Art Piece I put together at school using Marshmallow Animals. The kids loved it and the adults in the building hated it and turned against me. The teachers had filed a petition to remove the Art. My Principal took down accompanying posters and told me to remove any references to food. And the joke is, our school motto is Respect, Responsibility, and Effort=Excellence. And the Genuine care of our Students is top priority. What a load!

Unfortunately, the adults in the building didn't like the activities, and had the display removed and said no more references of Animals as Food! Those in charge would prefer to keep certain information from the poor children who they feed government free lunches to. These kids are making choices now that will affect their eating habits for life. The way Public Schools suppress the truth is embarrassing! Anyways, check out a snipet of an activity the kids loved (so did I).
This was the text to a handout given with a Marshmallow Animal that they couldn't eat and had to take care of for 3 days. Most of them returned the Animals and moved on to the next challenge level.
Your New Animal Buddy
If you really understand what art is, then art at least until now has been a means of making things for money and decoration or maybe on a grander scale to convey ideas in new ways that would be too complex for words alone. The psychology of art is a powerful tool used by some in advertising to manipulate our senses for money. Why would anyone want to buy marshmallow treats? Maybe, the whimsical humanized animal treats appeal to children who in turn convince their parents to buy them. So, some people use art to manipulate others in ways with little or no concern of anything other than money. Not only that, some people try to manipulate us with language too. George Carlin states that, "By and large, language is a tool for concealing the truth". Therefore, we cannot trust what we see, read, or hear. As Dr. Chopra says,‘’After all, our senses tell us that the earth is flat and we don't believe that anymore. Our senses tell us that the ground we stand on does not move and yet we know its spinning at dizzying speeds and hurtling through outer space at thousands of miles an hour! The senses tell us things have a certain taste, smell, size, texture. Maybe that is not the way things really are.’’
Did you know you are a lot smarter and happier than many people who are much older than you? Your head is filled with less clutter and you tend to see things with excitement as if for the first time. This is because you are based in reality in the here and now. Moreover, because your mind is free of clutter and you worry not of yesterday or tomorrow, you are free to be positive and to think deeply about important big life ideas. And you do. You are a philosopher! I am a philosopher too, partly because I made sure to remember what it was like to be a kid and I did everything I could to not forget. Problem is, as a lot of us "grow up", we gradually accept more and more things that we normally would not like to accept, so much so, that eventually not much matters. This apathy leads to low self-esteem. Lasting happiness is difficult to achieve if we do not respect ourselves. With low self-respect and a negative outlook, we become fixed to a particular reality that imprisons us in a fixed mode of perception that is not based in reality! One thing for sure, when we are young, we respect ourselves because we are based in reality and we are happy because of it. When we grow up, we always think back, how great it was to be a kid. And somewhere in the process of growing up, we compromise ourselves and become unhappy. Some people even have kids of their own in attempt to rekindle their own happy time of youth. So, here you are, at the best time of your life, with the clearest head, right here right now! As I said, "You are a philosopher!"
What happens when a philosopher uses the power of art to make people think and look at things in new ways? Now art becomes more than a money machine that people decorate with, but instead, becomes a way to explore the many avenues, connections, and new ways of thinking that lead to positive change.
It is estimated that the average human has 60,000 thoughts a day and about 55,000 of the thoughts you will have today are the very same ones you had yesterday. That leaves us with about 5,000 new thoughts each day. How many of those new thoughts will you devote to your new marshmallow friend today? How many more thoughts of your friend will you partake tomorrow and the next? Not only is your beautiful friend a work of art just like the real animal it represents, but needs to be returned to help others in a special way. The thought is bigger than you might expect. As you take care of your friend, take time, look at your friend, and think about the bigger life ideas. Please return your animal friend (who must be unscathed and happy) at the end of school on Thursday for something extra nice to make you feel happy in return for your help in keeping your animal friend safe and in good company.
Here are couple of pics from the offensive Art Display;

“The moon cries in loneliness as today’s child chooses to stay inside glued to an electronic box, compartmentalized inside a temperature controlled façade, instead of going out in to the world, exploring caves, swimming with turtles, discovering nature’s beauty and perfection, caring a broken wing, feeding fish, finding real friends, friends who help the child as much or more than the other” Warwak
